Private Peaceful is a class novel that we read and its "ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY AWESOME DUDES"!!!
Private Peaceful is set in Blighty (as they call it) and it's about WW1. It starts when Tommo Peaceful is in the woods with his father (name unknown) and his father gets hit by a tree and Tommo thinks it's his fault because his father saved him from the falling tree when Tommo was too scared to move. Soon afterwards Tommo and his brother Charlie fall in love with a girl from school and their neighbourhood called Molly. Then Charlie and Molly have secret meetings and soon Molly becomes pregnant and Tommo is jealous.
Then news comes of the war and the Colonel makes Charlie go to war. Tommo doesn't want to be left alone so he goes with him. They have to disguise as twins because Tommo's too young. Then the two endure a long time in the trenches until they have to move out onto no-mans land and Charlie stays with Tommo and he gets shot by a firing squad. They call Molly's baby Tommo and Tommo senior becomes his dad.
